Shapermint vs Maidenform Shapewear

We did a shapewear review of Shapermint’s high waisted shaper short and got a huge response. So many of you wanted us to test out more shapewear — and that’s what we’re doing today. We’re testing out another shapewear garment from Shapermint, and we’re also testing a very similar garment from Maidenform. I’m sure a lot of you know Maidenform — it’s a huge shapewear company sold everywhere, and it’s what I used to wear before I discovered Shapermint. If you haven’t heard of it, you’re about to today.

Shapermint vs Maidenform: High Waisted Shapewear

Today we’re reviewing high waisted shaper panties from both companies — Shapermint and Maidenform. Both are in black (my go-to shapewear color). I’ll give you my initial thoughts just by looking at them, then a full try-on comparison to see how well they control the tummy and hold up throughout the day.

Shapermint High Waisted Panties

First up, the Shapermint high waisted panties — this is a size XXXL, the same size I wore in the Shapermint shaper short. Looking at it, it’s not as thick as the Maidenform shapewear panty. But it feels like it will have a good amount of hold and be extremely comfortable, just like the shorts were. One thing I love: it stretches vertically a good amount, which means it won’t be too short for anyone with a longer torso or lower belly cushion.

Maidenform High Waisted Shaper Short

Next, the Maidenform high waisted shaper short. I can already tell this one is thicker — it seems like it’s gonna have better control. It has that good elasticity: stretches and goes back to form. Just like the Shapermint, it has silicone in the waistband, which keeps your shapewear up (if your shapewear doesn’t have this, it will probably roll down). I went with a 4XL based on their size chart.

Shapermint High Waisted Panty – Try On

Getting into it was very easy because it’s stretchy. But I feel like because it’s so stretchy, it’s less firm than I’d like. It did a good amount of smoothing, but did it snatch me? Not really. The lower tummy area got held in a bit, but overall I feel like it’s more of a smoothing effect than actual control. I almost feel bigger in this one. If I go up in size, it won’t do anything because it’s too stretchy. If I go down, it’ll be way too tight. This is my size, but it’s just not doing what the Shapermint shaper short did.

Maidenform High Waisted Shaper Short – Try On

This is the Maidenform Flexees high waisted brief. It has this line across the tummy — a little weird, and you can kind of see it through fabric. But aside from that, this one has better control. It has a firmer grip and gave me more snatching — more shape than the Shapermint. It did more for the lower stomach. I don’t feel stuffed in this one like a sausage in casing. It’s comfortable for everyday wear, and it has the silicone at the top so it doesn’t roll down. I really like this one.

🏆 Final Verdict: Which One Wins?

Shapermint High Waisted Panties: Super stretchy, easy to get into, and comfortable — but it’s more of a smoothing garment than true tummy control. If you want light shaping and comfort, this is a solid choice.

Maidenform High Waisted Shaper Short: Thicker, firmer, and delivers better snatching and hold. The silicone waistband keeps it in place, and it gives real control over the lower stomach. My winner for everyday wear with actual shaping.

My pick: Maidenform wins for better tummy control and firmer hold. But if you prioritize ultimate comfort and stretch, Shapermint is still a great option.
